The GHBA Benefit Homes Project begins with local developers squib

This 40th anniversary of the Greater Houston Builders Association’s Benefit Homes Project is a milestone as it has raised nearly $12 million since its inception, and it all begins with the developer who donates a lot.

The Benefit Homes Project has been honored to work with dozens of developers of all sizes throughout its history. Many of these developers approach the GHBA on their own, as they are aware of the project and its success over four decades. Others contact a builder in one of their communities and asks to partner on a Benefit home. And other partnerships are created when the GHBA reaches out to developers who have been leaders in the community.

The GHBA is proud to have partnered with dozens of developers over the past 40 years. Many of them have donated multiple lots over time, and one in particular, Land Tejas has donated 17 lots. These developers include, American General Land Development, Caldwell Companies, Dalton Smith Interests, Esra Grae Corporation, Friendswood Development Company, Lake Olympia Development Corp., Land Tejas Development, Midway Development, Newland Communities, NewQuest Properties, Rise Communities, Ryko Development, Inc., South Shore Harbor Development, Ltd., Terrabrook Communities, The Howard Hughes Corporation — Bridgeland, LP, The Woodlands Development Co., Toll Brothers, Trend Development, Trendmaker Development Company and WaterStone at Lake Conroe.

In 2020, GHBA has partnered with Land Tejas in their community of Sierra Vista. The builder for the Benefit Home is HistoryMaker Homes. HistoryMaker has completed its 3,176-square-foot Alder plan and it is currently being showcased to visitors. The home is a two-story design that offers plenty of open space.
